NCS Re-elects Sirajo Aliyu as President, Onyeukwu as Deputy at Kano AGM

Despite the heated campaign generated leading to the 2025 Ncs election, Sirajo and Charles retained their seats. The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has re-elected Dr. Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu as President and Dr. Charles Onyeukwu as Deputy President during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Kano State.

Dr. Aliyu, an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Director of ICT at the Federal University Dutse, secured a second term after a tenure marked by efforts to expand ICT access and promote digital inclusion. Delegates at the AGM commended his leadership, describing his re-election as a clear mandate for continuity.

Dr. Onyeukwu’s emergence as Deputy President was also welcomed by members, with stakeholders noting that the leadership team reflects both stability and renewed momentum for the society’s future.

Other members elected into the National Executive Council include Shulammite Ileibiyi as Chair of Publicity, Events, and Trade Services; Nwaocha Vivian Ogochukwu as Chair of the Innovation, Research, and Development Committee; and Olusegun Alabi as Chair of the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee.

The new executive team is expected to drive the society’s focus on innovation, inclusivity, and ethical standards in Nigeria’s ICT sector.
