ABUJA — The organisers of the 2026 Abuja Tech & Digital Economy Week (ATDEW) have strengthened their strategic partnership with key government institutions following a high-level meeting between the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG & EV) and the Young Innovators of Nigeria (YIN).
The strategic meeting, held on 29th Septemeber 2026, in Abuja as part of preparations for ATDEW 2026, focused on institutional alignment, strategic participation and the role of technology and innovation in advancing affordable, sustainable and intelligent mobility in Nigeria.
ATDEW 2026 is scheduled to hold from 24–26 November 2026 at the Abuja Velodrome, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, under the theme: “Energizing Smart Mobility: Powering Cities of the Future.”
Organised by the Young Innovators of Nigeria (YIN), with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) as Co-Host, and with NASENI, Pi-CNG & EV and the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) as strategic partners, the Week is designed to bring government, innovators, investors, technology companies and infrastructure stakeholders together around practical solutions for Nigeria’s cities.
A major outcome of the meeting was NASENI’s expressed commitment to actively participate in ATDEW 2026 and support the commercialisation and further development of promising solutions emerging from the ATDEW National Innovation Challenge.
Representatives of NASENI led by the Director, Manufacturing services Dr. Olayode Olasupo indicated interest in exploring pathways through which worthy finalists and high-potential solutions from the Innovation Challenge could receive further incubation, technical support and opportunities for commercialisation, particularly where the solutions demonstrate potential for national deployment.
The proposed collaboration is expected to create a pathway beyond competition and recognition, enabling selected innovations to progress from ideas and prototypes towards testing, incubation, market readiness and eventual deployment.
This direction is consistent with NASENI’s broader innovation ecosystem activities, which emphasise supporting indigenous technologies, incubation and moving innovative solutions towards market success. (NASENI Innovation Hub -) with mrs Beckley Head of the NASENI Innovation Hub in attendance.
The meeting also placed significant emphasis on the transportation component of smart mobility.
Representatives of the Pi-CNG & EV initiative expressed commitment to supporting conversations around making transportation in Nigeria cheaper, smarter, cleaner and more accessible, while positioning ATDEW as a platform where innovators and technology developers can present ideas capable of addressing the cost and energy challenges affecting transportation.
Discussions are expected to explore solutions around electric mobility, CNG, charging infrastructure, energy systems, intelligent transport, route optimisation, digital payments, fleet management and other technologies capable of improving the movement of people and goods.
According to Andrew Agbo Abu, MNCS, MCPN, CDPO, Chairman of the ATDEW Programme Steering Committee and Founder of YIN, the meeting represents an important step in ensuring that ATDEW delivers practical outcomes.
“ATDEW is not being designed simply as a conference where people come to talk about technology. We want the conversations to lead to partnerships, commercial opportunities, incubation, investment and deployment. The commitment expressed by NASENI and Pi-CNG & EV strengthens our ambition to create a platform where Nigerian innovators can connect their solutions to institutions capable of helping them move from ideas to impact.”
He added that smart mobility must be viewed as an interconnected ecosystem involving energy, transport, technology, infrastructure, finance, data and innovation.
The MD/CEO OF REA Mr. Abubakar Abba Aliyu expressed appreciation to the representatives of the EVC/CEO of NASENI and the representatives of the Chairman of Pi-CNG & EV for participating in the strategic meeting and contributing to the alignment of priorities for ATDEW 2026.
The organisers said they are looking forward to the next phase of engagement, including further programme alignment, institutional participation, identification of priority areas and the development of practical collaboration frameworks ahead of the November event.
ATDEW 2026 is expected to bring together government institutions, state governments, technology companies, investors, innovators, development partners, energy companies, mobility operators and the wider digital economy ecosystem.
