Abuja Tech Rally Mobilises Youths and Technology Stakeholders Ahead of ATDEW 2026

ABUJA — The road to the 2026 Abuja Tech & Digital Economy Week (ATDEW) gained momentum on 1 October 2026 as hundreds of young people and stakeholders across the technology, energy and transportation sectors participated in the Abuja Tech Rally, an awareness and public mobilisation initiative ahead of the November event.

The rally formed part of activities designed to sensitise the public to ATDEW 2026 and encourage wider participation in the national conversation around technology, innovation, smart mobility and the future of Nigerian cities.

ATDEW 2026 is scheduled to hold from 24–26 November 2026 at the Abuja Velodrome, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, under the theme: “Energizing Smart Mobility: Powering Cities of the Future.”

The event is organised by the Young Innovators of Nigeria (YIN), with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) as Co-Host, and NASENI, Pi-CNG & EV and the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) as strategic partners.

Held at the city Gate Abuja, The Tech Rally brought together young people, technology stakeholders, energy-sector participants, transportation stakeholders and members of the wider innovation ecosystem, creating a visible public expression of the growing interest in the November technology week.
Participants used the rally to promote conversations around the role of technology in solving everyday urban challenges, particularly transportation, energy, digital services, entrepreneurship and employment.

The organisers said the choice of mobility and public engagement as part of the build-up to ATDEW reflects the central theme of this year’s event, which seeks to examine how technology can make cities smarter, cleaner, safer, more connected and more economically productive.

Speaking on the significance of the mobilisation, Andrew Agbo Abu, MNCS, MCPN, CDPO, Chairman of the ATDEW Programme Steering Committee and Founder of Young Innovators of Nigeria, said the rally was intended to take the conversation beyond conference halls.

“Abuja Tech Week belongs to the ecosystem. It belongs to the young people building technologies, the entrepreneurs creating jobs, the professionals solving problems, the energy and mobility companies developing new solutions and the citizens who ultimately use these technologies. The Abuja Tech Rally is about taking the conversation to the people.”
He added:

“We want Nigerians to begin asking a simple question: what should the future of our cities look like, and what role can technology play in building that future? That is the conversation we are taking into November.”

The rally also provided an opportunity to highlight some of the key areas that will feature prominently at ATDEW 2026, including electric mobility, CNG, clean energy, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, smart transport systems, digital payments, route optimisation, data-driven cities and innovation.

The organisers said the mobilisation campaign will continue in the weeks leading to the event, with further engagement expected across technology communities, universities, innovation hubs, professional associations, businesses, government institutions and the general public.

ATDEW 2026 will feature a High-Level Technology Ecosystem Dialogue, Capital & Innovation Investment Forum and Deal Room, National Innovation Challenge, exhibitions, rapid-fire pitches and sector-focused conversations, among other activities.

The Innovation Challenge will provide a platform for innovators to present solutions to real-world problems, while the investment programme will connect promising startups and project developers with investors, development finance institutions, corporate partners and potential adopters.

The organisers said the growing mobilisation demonstrates that the conversation around smart mobility and the future of cities extends beyond technology companies and government agencies.
It is ultimately a conversation about how Nigerians live, work, move, trade and access services in the cities of the future.
