The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), the nation’s foremost professional body for Information Technology practitioners, has officially announced the hosting of its landmark annual event, the NCS International Conference 2026, scheduled to take place in Jos, Plateau State.
Under the theme “Harnessing Digital Innovation and Emerging Technologies for Inclusive Growth and Economic Renaissance,” widely referred to as RISE 2026, the global hybrid conference is set to run from Monday, July 27, to Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Crispan Hotel in Jos.
In a press briefing, the President of the NCS, Professor Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu, positioned the upcoming summit as more than just an academic or industry seminar, describing it as a critical national and global platform aimed at driving socio-economic transformation.
Prof. Aliyu emphasized that the timing of RISE 2026 is highly strategic, coming at a period when Nigeria is actively confronting complex macroeconomic challenges, including inflationary pressures, digital inequality, youth unemployment, and infrastructure deficits.
He asserted that the effective deployment of emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Blockchain, Cybersecurity, and Data Science, holds the key to unlocking the immense potential of Nigeria’s energetic youth population and revitalizing the broader national economy.
The decision to host the conference in Jos reflects the society’s long-standing policy of rotating its annual gathering across the country’s geopolitical zones to promote regional technology hubs and national integration.
Applauding the host city, the NCS President noted that Jos is widely recognized for its temperate climate, rich cultural heritage, and rapidly expanding innovation ecosystem, making it the perfect backdrop for global intellectual engagement and policy formulation.
Through this event, he said, NCS aims to highlight the potential of emerging digital hubs outside the traditional tech strongholds, ensuring that digital inclusion and the benefits of the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions reach every corner of the federation.
Prof. Aliyu stressed that RISE 2026 is projected to draw over two thousand physical and virtual delegates from across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
The technical sessions, workshops, and startup exhibitions, he said, will dissect critical sub-themes, including smart governance, Fintech, cloud infrastructure, sustainable Green Computing, and Advanced Robotics.
Crucially, the summit intends to establish concrete pathways for innovation-driven entrepreneurship, strengthen digital trust, and promote inclusive technology policies that leave no Nigerian behind in the rapidly advancing global knowledge economy.
To ensure the discussions translate into actionable national policies, the NCS has lined up an elite assembly of special guests and regulatory leaders. Expected dignitaries include the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, alongside the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani.
Key regulatory and enterprise leaders also confirmed to lead deliberations include:
– Dr. Vincent O. Olatunji, National Commissioner of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission
– Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, Director General of the National Identity Management Commission
– Mrs. Jane Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT
– Professor Ibrahim Adepoju Adeyanju, Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone
– Mr. Adesola Akinsanya, President of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association
– Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission
Prof. Aliyu described RISE 2026 as a collective movement and a historic call to national renewal. He called on governments, corporate institutions, research academia, and the international tech community to gather in Jos and actively participate in defining the digital future of Nigeria.
