NASENI Chief Emphasizes Nigeria’s Need to Embrace Tech Talent

 


The new CEO of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure in Nigeria, Mr. Khalil Halilu, emphasized the importance of recognizing and nurturing the country’s tech talents. He praised Nigerian talents for their global achievements and made this point during his inaugural address to the agency’s management and staff.

Halilu, the EVC of the agency, emphasized technology transfer as a top priority. He stressed the importance of tapping into the wealth of Nigerian talent and global experiences to foster technology exchange with other countries, particularly in Africa, and promised to provide the needed support for this endeavor.

He emphasized that the agency’s responsibility is to utilize the nation’s resources, talents, capacity, and energy to support the economic development priorities of the new administration. The primary goal is to harness innovation, science, and technology resources to benefit Nigerians and contribute to the national economy.

He expressed the agency’s commitment to embrace advanced technologies, cultivate a skilled workforce, promote research and development, and establish partnerships locally and globally. He emphasized collaboration with government entities, the private sector, international organizations, and the media to foster growth in science, technology, engineering, and innovation in Nigeria.

The new CEO of NASENI, Halilu, was welcomed by top management staff, including Mrs. Nonyem Onyechi, the Coordinating Director of Planning and Business Development. She guided him on a tour of the agency’s facilities. Halilu replaced the former CEO, Dr. Bashir Gwandu, who was approved by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
