Senate Approves Dr. Aminu Maida as NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman

The Senate has granted confirmation to Dr. Aminu Maida as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC). The endorsement follows the presentation and adoption of the Committee on Communication’s report by Chairman Bilbis Ikra (APC-Zamfara) during the Committee of the Whole session on Thursday.

Chairing the report presentation, Mrs. Ikra urged the Senate to consider President Bola Tinubu’s request for the confirmation of Maida as the NCC Chairman, in line with Section 8 (1) of the Nigerian Communication Commission Establishment Act of 2003.

Stating that the committee had thoroughly vetted Maida, Ikra affirmed that he successfully cleared all security assessments and possessed the necessary qualifications, professional experience, competence, and regulatory capacity crucial for ensuring the NCC’s continued success.

Consequently, the Senate officially confirmed the appointment of Mr. Maida as the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC.
