NITDA, AUDA-NEPAD Explore Collaboration for Digital Empowerment and Inclusive Growth

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the African Union Development Agency-New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD) are exploring a strategic partnership to leverage modern technology for Nigeria’s digital empowerment and inclusive economic growth.

Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director-General of NITDA, highlighted the potential of technology to revolutionize key sectors, particularly agriculture, during a courtesy visit by Hon. Jabiru Abdullahi Tsauri, National Coordinator of AUDA-NEPAD, and his team to NITDA’s headquarters in Abuja.

Inuwa emphasized the role of modern technology in boosting agricultural productivity and ensuring food security. He noted that leveraging NITDA’s existing data infrastructure could facilitate efficient tracking, workflow optimization, and innovative solutions to address challenges in agriculture and other critical sectors.

The discussions between the two agencies centered on identifying synergies that could foster sustainable development in Nigeria and across Africa. Inuwa expressed NITDA’s readiness to work closely with AUDA-NEPAD to advance technology-driven initiatives aimed at achieving digital inclusion and economic growth.

“Combining technology with accurate knowledge is essential for effective delivery and achieving Nigeria’s digital empowerment goals,” Inuwa said.

Hon. Tsauri commended NITDA’s efforts in driving digital innovation and pledged AUDA-NEPAD’s support in creating frameworks for technological integration in various sectors.

The proposed partnership aligns with the broader objectives of AUDA-NEPAD and NITDA to harness technology as a catalyst for development, emphasizing its potential to transform agriculture, education, and other critical areas for the benefit of Nigeria and the African continent.

Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to leveraging technology for sustainable development and economic inclusivity, setting the stage for future collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.
