NCS’ SMART ECO 2024: Exploring Effective Strategies for Smart Economy

 

 

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) says its forthcoming international conference themed “technological solutions for smart economy (SmartEco 2024)” will focus on providing technological support for government by developing effective strategies to achieve a smart economy and sustainable for the nation.

DigiVation Network reports that while addressing the media at a press conference in Lagos, Dr Muhammed Siraju Aliyu, the president of NCS made it known that the international conference this year holding at Dr Obi Wali International Conference Centre, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is slated for 12th to 15th of August, 2024.

Dr Aliyu highlighted the strategic importance of the conference to Nigeria’s smart economic growth as it will be bringing together policy makers within the government, business leaders, members of academia, professionals and practitioners to deliberate on broad social, economic and technology trends relevant to the development and sustainability of the nation. The conference according to Dr Aliyu will be hybrid so as to allow attendees participate physically or virtually.

The President noted that very important issues will be the focus of speakers and the plenary sessions. “The conference will focus on conversations around the theme which includes: intelligent cities, e-Government and policy framework, e-Health and smart healthcare, regulations and digital consumer policy, smart security and surveillance system, cyber security, artificial intelligence and application amongst others”. He emphasized.

Dr Aliyu also disclosed that this year’s international conference will provide a multi stakeholder forum to examine pertinent consideration for technological solution for smart economy relevant to the development of practical solutions. He also stated the highlights of the conference include keynotes, parallel sessions, technical sessions, seminars, induction of new members, entrepreneurship platform, public sector ICT showcase, national IT competitions, amongst others. “We shall be having pre-conference program which will feature a Pre-conference workshop scheduled to hold on the arriving date of the event being 12th August 2024”. He implored IT professionals and other participants to look forward to developing strong networks with professionals and stakeholders, using the annual general meeting as a platform to explore unique one on one interaction and advocacy opportunities.

Speaking on confirmed guests, experts and speakers the president disclosed that the governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubura, Eze Chile Amadi Worlu-Wodo, DSSRS, Eze Oha Apara IV of Apara Kingdom, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, Director General National Identity Management Commission, Abisoye Coker Odusote, National Information Technology Development Agency, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Executive Vice Chairman Nigerian Communication Commission, Aminu Maida, President British Computer Society, Mr John Huggins, Heloisa Candello ACM/IBM Brazil amongst others would be in attendance.

The chairman of the international conference, Professor Adebukola Onashoga, who joined the media parley virtually also gave insights on the importance of the conference. She revealed that there would be submissions of papers and presentations on emerging technology and fields in Computing.

Speaking about the Pre conference workshop, she said; “there is a partnership between the NCS and CISCO Academy and all registered participant that are interested in the workshop will be certified for free”. She noted.

This year’s international conference would avail opportunities for participants to network and exchange ideas, enhance creativity, connect globally as participation will increase professional and academic rating for IT professionals.
