The three-member panel of justices, headed by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam, made this ruling on Thursday, overturning the previous decision of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal (GEPT). The tribunal had initially declared David Ombugadu of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the election held on March 18, 2023.

This legal development brings clarity to the electoral landscape in Nasarawa State and reinforces Governor Sule’s mandate, aligning with the stance of the All Progressives Congress. The decision by the Court of Appeal emphasizes the judiciary’s role in resolving electoral disputes and upholding the democratic process.
