Tinubu’s Spokesman Ajuri Ngelale Resigns on Health Grounds

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity and Official Spokesperson for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has resigned from his position effective immediately due to pressing family health matters.

Ngelale submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff, informing him of the decision to take an indefinite leave of absence to address the medical challenges affecting his immediate family.

In the statement personally signed by Ngelale, he emphasized that the decision was not taken lightly and followed significant consultation with his family. “I submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President, informing my office that I am proceeding on an indefinite leave of absence to frontally deal with medical matters presently affecting my immediate, nuclear family,” he said.

Ngelale acknowledged that the demands of national governance wait for no one, expressing his deep regret at pausing his functions as Special Adviser to the President, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen. “This agonizing decision was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home,” he explained.

He assured the public of his intention to return to national service when circumstances permit and requested privacy for his family during this challenging time.

“I look forward to returning to full-time national service when time, healing, and fate permit,” Ngelale concluded.

His resignation has been met with widespread concern, as he has played a pivotal role in shaping the media and publicity strategies of the Tinubu administration.
