At this year’s National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA) conference and awards, the NCS will announce the fund – a startup grant – dubbed the “Innovation Development Fund.”
The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), as the umbrella organization for all information technology (IT) professionals, has encouraged the growth of IT in Nigeria for more than 40 years.
NCS now has a membership of over 20,000 people.
The event will be led by Chief Leo Stan Ekeh, chairman of the Zinox Group, according to Prof. Adesina Sodiya, president of NCS.
Sodiya made the announcement today at a press conference for this year’s NITMA, which will take place on Thursday at Muson Centre in Lagos.
“We are about to introduce the NCS Innovation Development Fund, which will encourage new entrepreneurs and innovators who will contribute value to the economy,” he says.
“When it comes to fostering innovation, NCS has never been on the fence, and we will continue to look inward.” I’ve been arguing that there are no software needs in this country that we can’t meet.
“At NITMA, we’re looking to raise N50 million for an Innovation Development Fund. The program is a startup grant that will go to companies that are developing innovative solutions to societal issues. Chief Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of Zinox Computer, is the chief launcher,” he remarked.
The computer professional body also pledged to help Nigerians advance in the field of information technology.
Sodiya stated that the Nigeria Computer Society, as an advocacy group, would continue to work toward achieving sustainable development in Nigeria and recognizing excellence and exceptional individuals, professionals, and corporate organizations who have made significant contributions to the industry.
