President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Hon. Zacch Adedeji as the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
Furthermore, the President has instructed the former FIRS Chairman, Mr. Muhammad Nami, to commence a three-month pre-retirement leave, in accordance with Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243, effective immediately. This pre-retirement leave leads to Mr. Nami’s eventual retirement from service on December 8, 2023.
Hon. Zacch Adedeji has been appointed on an interim basis for a 90-day period, after which he is expected to be confirmed as the substantive Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service for an initial term of four (4) years.
Hon. Zacch Adedeji boasts a distinguished academic background, having graduated with first-class honors in accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University. He has previously served the nation in various capacities, including as the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue, as well as holding prominent positions such as the Oyo State Commissioner of Finance and the Executive Secretary / CEO of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).
These directives from President Tinubu have taken immediate effect, marking the commencement of the new appointment.
