NPC to Make Use of Digital Technology in 2023 Census

The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Alhaji Nasir Kwarra, has stated the plans of the commission to make use of full digital technology in the conduct of the 2023 census, ensure that the outcome of the population count is acceptable by the citizens of the country and that the data quality of the results generated, meets international standard.

Kwarra assures Nigerians and the international community that the Commission would remain undoubtedly committed to ensuring that everything about the exercise is done rightly and professionally as no one will be left out of the headcount. He explains that, all houses have been captured and geocoded across Nigeria as they have the clear vision, commitment and capacity to deliver on an historic mandate.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, describes the conduct of the 2023 Population and Housing Census as a top priority for the current administration and states that the success of the Commission would positively rewrite the history of census in Nigeria through meticulous planning and massive deployment of technology at every stage of the exercise.

The hi-tech equipment and digital technology for the conduct of population census serves a great purpose towards ensuring a reliable 2023 population and housing census as well as accurate enumeration of geospatial and infrastructure data through Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) which are ultra-portable computers that can perform a variety of software programmes.
