NOSL Empowers Girls in Nigeria to Cultivate STEM Skills

 

In a groundbreaking initiative, Natural Oilfield Services Limited (NOSL), in partnership with the Rise Up and Sparkle Initiative, orchestrated an inspiring event titled “Girls in STEM: Future is STEM” on November 23rd, 2023. The occasion witnessed the enthusiastic participation of girls from Queens College in Yaba, Lagos, as they showcased their passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

The event commenced with empowering remarks from Mrs. Edith of Natural Oil Field Services Limited and Mrs. Funmilola Omojola, Programme Coordinator of Rise Up and Sparkle Initiative. Both speakers emphasized the pivotal role of STEM education in empowering and shaping the future of young girls.

 

Keynote speakers Mrs. Gbemisola Kayode-Bolarinwa from the Ministry of Science and Technology and Mrs. Folake Etomi from the NIWIIT Lagos State Chapter delivered enlightening talks. They shared valuable insights into the myriad opportunities available in STEM fields, encouraging and motivating the young participants.

The event featured a stimulating quiz competition and captivating showcases of innovative science-based and robotics projects. Participants actively engaged in knowledge-sharing activities, showcasing creativity and problem-solving skills.

 

Esteemed male dignitaries, including Mr. Olakunle Oladipupo, Chairman of the NCS Lagos Chapter, Mr. Jide Awe, Managing Director of Jidaw Systems, and Mr. Lanre Olanrewaju, Managing Director of Equinoxcore Technology Limited, expressed unwavering support. They shared inspiring insights, motivating the girls to pursue STEM aspirations.

The event concluded successfully, leaving the girls feeling empowered and equipped with newfound enthusiasm to excel in STEM fields. The showcased projects from Queens College reflected remarkable innovation, promising a bright future in STEM disciplines.
