The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) will confer fellows on Dr. Bayero Agabi, founder of DigiVation Network, and Dr. Obafemi Hamsat, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, at this year’s National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA).
Professional fellowships will be conferred on Dr. Obafemi Hamsat, recognizing him as an authority in the field of computing through significant contributions to the growth of Information Technology through his professional expertise and activities. Honourary Fellowships will be conferred on Dr. Bayero Agabi as a distinguished personality for his dedication and exemplary service to IT growth and development in Nigeria.
The President of NCS, Prof. Adesina Sodiya, announced the news today at a press conference, saying that both Dr. Bayero and Dr. Hamsat have demonstrated professionalism by making significant contributions to the expansion of information technology in Nigeria.
Mr. Kayode Sobajo, founder/Chairman/CEO, HIIT PLC, and Tim. Akano, MD/CEO, New Horizons Plc, will be among the 51 Professional fellowship awardees, the highest number in NCS’ annual history, while three honourary fellowship awardees include Mr. Kayode Sobajo, founder/Chairman/CEO, HIIT PLC, and Tim. Akano, MD/CEO, New Horizon Plc.
“This year, we’re honoring Dr. Bayero Agabi and two others with honorary fellowships, while Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and 50 others will get professional fellowships,” he stated.
The National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA) are part of NCS’ advocacy efforts to use information technology to achieve sustainable development and promote the digital economy in Nigeria.
NITMA is an annual event that honors, promotes, and acknowledges excellent achievement and contributions in the field of information technology. The important topics and concerns influencing the sector’s and society’s growth are addressed in the selection of the awards.
