NIRA BoT Chair, Mrs. Ibukun Abimbola Odusote, Receives Prestigious Honor at NITMA’23

The Chairperson of the Board of Trustees (BoT) for the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA), Mrs. Ibukun Abimbola Odusote, has been bestowed with a prestigious honor by the College of Fellows of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS).

The recognition was conferred upon Mrs. Odusote during the 2023 Nigeria Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA), organized by the NCS. This acknowledgment serves to commend members who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to the industry, service to humanity, and nation-building.

Represented by Trustee Sir Remmy Nweke at the event, Mrs. Odusote received the accolade, presented by former President of the Computer Professionals (Registration Council) of Nigeria (CPN), Prof. Mrs. Adenike Osofisan, who also serves on the NIRA BoT.

Mrs. Veronica Ola Owolabi, the Provost of the College of Fellows, emphasized that the honor aims to inspire fellows who continually excel in the industry, encouraging both the younger generation and NCS membership.

Mrs. Ibukun Abimbola Odusote’s distinguished career, including her pivotal role as the administrative contact for the .ng ccTLD and her subsequent appointment as the Chairperson of the NiRA Board of Trustees. A seasoned technocrat, she retired from the Nigeria civil service after serving as the Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Environment.

Mrs. Odusote’s extensive work experience spans various ministries, contributing significantly to Information Technology in both the educational and professional sectors. Notably, she currently holds the position of National Coordinator at Digitest, a project of Digital Peers International (DPI).

NITMA 2023, attended by industry luminaries such as the pioneer NIRA BoT Chairman, Dr. Isaac Odeyemi, and other distinguished figures, recognized outstanding individuals, including Otunba Akin Doherty, Managing Director of AlphaBeta Consulting LLP, and Hajiya (Dr) Aishatu Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed, the First Lady of Bauchi State, with honorary fellowships of NCS.
