Meta Expands Meta AI Services to Nigeria and 11 Other Countries

Meta, the company behind Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, has expanded its AI service, “Meta AI,” to 12 countries outside the United States, including Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Canada, Australia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi.

The rollout, currently available in English, aims to enhance connections and equip users with new creative, expressive, and productivity tools directly within these popular apps.

Since its initial unveiling at last year’s Connect event, Meta AI has evolved into a multifaceted tool seamlessly integrated into users’ daily lives. Powered by Meta Llama 3 technology, Meta AI empowers users to accomplish tasks, acquire knowledge, foster creativity, and forge connections with ease.

In a blog post on Thursday, Meta announced the expansion, stating that Meta AI is now smarter, faster, and more fun than ever before, thanks to the latest advances with Meta Llama 3. The company emphasized that its new AI is the most intelligent AI assistant available for free and is now accessible in more countries across its apps.

With Meta AI integrated into feeds, chats, searches, and more across Meta’s apps, users can get things done and access real-time information without leaving the app.

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, expressed excitement about expanding Meta AI to new countries, emphasizing the company’s commitment to providing real-time information through seamless search integration in beloved apps. He highlighted the upgrades to Meta AI, including the new state-of-the-art Llama 3 AI model and unique creation features like the ability to animate photos.

While the advent of AI brings revolutionary advancements, experts have raised concerns about transparency, bias, privacy, ethics, security, concentration of power, and long-term risks associated with the development of artificial general intelligence surpassing human intelligence. However, Meta continues to innovate and expand its AI services to enhance user experiences globally.
