The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has been impeached by members of the House, sources have confirmed.
A reliable source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, the former Deputy Speaker, has been elected as the new Speaker. Hon. Fatai Mojeed, the Deputy Chief Whip, has also been elected as the new Deputy Speaker.
The impeachment reportedly follows a series of controversies surrounding Obasa, particularly over alleged financial misconduct.

In a brief statement shared by the source, it was revealed: “Obasa is impeached. The Deputy Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, is elected as Speaker. Mojeed Fatai is the Deputy Speaker.”
