Introducing the First Nigerian Set to go to the Moon

In 2023, the “dearMoon mission” is set to take nine passengers on a lunar orbit aboard a Starship. Among these passengers are Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa and Yemi Akinyemi Dele, a choreographer with Nigerian roots.

This lunar journey, which will circumnavigate the moon but not touch down, is fully funded by Maezawa, who plans to bring along six to eight artists from various disciplines like painters, sculptors, fashion designers, and architects, offering them the opportunity to fly free of charge.

Maezawa’s vision is that this unique experience will inspire these artists to create new art, which they will share with the world upon their return to Earth, aiming to inspire others and promote global peace.

After reviewing over a million applications, Maezawa selected eight crew members, including Yemi Akinyemi Dele, a talented Nigerian-Czech choreographer and multidisciplinary artist, to join this six-day lunar adventure.
