Inspiring the Digital Generation: Mrs. Funmilola Omojola Honoured with ICT Girls Torch Holder Award

At the prestigious 2025 edition of the International Girls in ICT Day Celebration, Mrs. Funmilola Victoria Omojola was recognized as the recipient of the ICT Girls Torch Holder Award, a distinction awarded to exemplary leaders driving digital inclusion and empowerment for young girls across Nigeria.

The event, hosted by eBusiness Life Communication Limited, took place at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, drawing key figures from the public and private sectors of the ICT industry, as well as students from secondary schools across Lagos. Under the theme, “Girls in ICT: Bridging ALL Divides for an Inclusive Digital Transformation,” the program emphasized the urgent need to create equitable access to digital education and opportunities for girls.

A powerhouse in Nigeria’s ICT ecosystem, Mrs. Omojola holds multiple leadership roles:

She is also the Founder and CEO of the Rise Up and Sparkle Initiative, an organization committed to uplifting young girls and women through digital literacy, mentorship, and leadership development.

Her story is one of transformation—from teaching at Grace High School in Gbagada to emerging as a respected advocate and mentor in the national ICT landscape. Mrs. Omojola’s journey reflects a deep commitment to ensuring girls are equipped, inspired, and empowered to lead in technology.

In her words:

The ICT Girls Torch Holder Award places her alongside past recipients such as Juliet Ehimuan, former Google Nigeria Country Director; Funke Opeke, CEO of MainOne; and other notable individuals and institutions including NCC, MTN Nigeria, and Inq Digital.

As Mrs. Omojola joins this circle of changemakers, her message is clear: the digital age must be inclusive, and every girl deserves a place at the table.
