INDIA–NIGERIA BUSINESS FORUM ON AI AND DIGITAL ECONOMY SET TO KICK-START BUILD-UP TO ABUJA TECH WEEK 2026

Indian High Commission and the Young Innovators of Nigeria to convene stakeholders on innovation, technology partnerships and investment opportunities.

The growing opportunities for collaboration between Nigeria and India in artificial intelligence, innovation and the digital economy will take centre stage on Thursday, 22 October 2026, as the Young Innovators of Nigeria (YIN), in collaboration with the High Commission of India in Nigeria, convenes the India–Nigeria Business Forum on AI, Innovation & Digital Economy at the Indian High Commission, Abuja.

The Forum is a strategic pre-event of the fourth edition of Abuja Tech & Digital Economy Week (ATDEW) 2026, scheduled for 24–26 November 2026 at the Velodrome, National Stadium, Abuja.

The engagement will provide a platform to explore opportunities for stronger business relationships, technology partnerships, innovation exchange and investment collaboration between Nigeria and India, while contributing to broader conversations about Africa’s digital transformation.

FROM TECHNOLOGY DIALOGUE TO A PLATFORM FOR AFRICAN INNOVATION

Abuja Tech Week builds on the journey of the Technology Ecosystem Dialogue (TED), an initiative that brought stakeholders together around conversations on technology, innovation, policy and the development of Nigeria’s digital economy.

The evolution of this dialogue into Abuja Tech Week reflects a broader ambition: to move beyond conversations towards practical collaboration between innovators, investors, government institutions, businesses, academia and development partners.

By connecting these stakeholders, ATDEW seeks to create opportunities for ideas to attract investment, technology enterprises to develop strategic partnerships, and promising solutions to progress towards piloting, adoption and scale.

The 2026 edition will further this ambition by placing smart mobility at the centre of discussions about the future of African cities.

SMART MOBILITY AND THE FUTURE OF AFRICAN CITIES

ATDEW 2026 is themed “Energizing Smart Mobility: Powering Cities of the Future.”

The theme speaks to the growing importance of intelligent transportation systems, electric mobility, compressed natural gas, digital payment systems, route optimisation, connected infrastructure, mobility data and clean-energy solutions in building more efficient and sustainable urban environments.

For Abuja and other rapidly growing African cities, these issues are closely connected to productivity, accessibility, road safety, energy transition, investment and the quality of everyday life.

The Forum with India is therefore strategically relevant. It provides an opportunity to examine how international partnerships, technology transfer, entrepreneurship and business cooperation can contribute to practical solutions for Nigeria’s digital economy.

Artificial intelligence and digital technologies are increasingly important to areas such as transport planning, logistics, predictive maintenance, data-driven decision-making and the development of more responsive public services. The Forum will provide a timely platform for stakeholders to explore the business and development opportunities associated with these technologies.

POSITIONING ABUJA AS A MEETING POINT FOR INVESTMENT AND INNOVATION

Abuja occupies a distinctive position in Nigeria’s technology and investment landscape. As the nation’s capital, it brings government institutions, policymakers, regulators, diplomatic missions, industry associations, investors and technology stakeholders into close proximity.

Abuja Tech Week seeks to harness this advantage by creating a convergence where policy discussions can connect with business opportunities, innovators can engage potential investors, and institutions can identify partnerships that support technology deployment.

The wider ATDEW 2026 programme will feature technology and innovation exhibitions, the Capital & Innovation Investment Forum, high-level technology ecosystem discussions and the National Innovation Challenge, championed by the Nigeria Computer Society.

These components are designed to connect innovation with capital and institutional support, helping to create pathways from idea to prototype, pilot, adoption and scale.

For investors, the platform offers an opportunity to engage with emerging technology solutions, explore potential partnerships and understand the challenges and opportunities shaping Nigeria’s and Africa’s digital markets.

A MULTI-STAKEHOLDER NATIONAL PLATFORM

Abuja Tech & Digital Economy Week 2026 is hosted by Young Innovators of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). Its Strategic Partners include the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG & EV), and the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS). Other national catalysts and ecosystem stakeholders, including the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), form part of the broader engagement.

This collaborative structure reflects the recognition that digital transformation cannot be achieved by any single institution. It requires coordination between public policy, private enterprise, technology innovators, investors, professional bodies and development partners.

The India–Nigeria Business Forum is an important part of this engagement, bringing an international dimension to the wider programme and opening additional possibilities for technology and business cooperation.

YIN’S VISION: CONNECTING INNOVATION TO OPPORTUNITY

For Young Innovators of Nigeria, the Forum and the wider Abuja Tech Week programme form part of a continuing effort to strengthen the country’s innovation ecosystem and create more meaningful connections between ideas, institutions, investment and implementation.

The ambition is not simply to convene technology stakeholders, but to encourage partnerships that support enterprise development, technology adoption, skills, investment and practical solutions to national and continental challenges.

As African economies pursue digital transformation, platforms that connect local innovators with international expertise and investment will be increasingly important.

Through ATDEW 2026, Abuja is positioning itself as a place where those connections can be developed, strengthened and translated into opportunities for the wider African technology ecosystem.
