Bloomberg Ranks Dangote Richest Man in Africa, Elon Musk Richest in the World

The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has managed to remain Africa’s wealthiest individual, even with the Nigerian currency’s fluctuation relative to the dollar, as indicated by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. In the latest daily top billionaire lists, Dangote’s wealth was evaluated at a remarkable $15.6 billion, securing his position as the foremost African billionaire on the Index.

The global rankings of the wealthiest individuals reveal that Elon Musk and Bernard Arnault hold the top two spots, amassing fortunes of $219 billion and $194 billion respectively. Following closely behind is Jeff Bezos in third place with a wealth of $151 billion, trailed by Microsoft CEO Bill Gates at $130 billion. Larry Ellison secures the fifth position with a net worth equivalent to $130 billion.

Dangote’s enduring status as Africa’s wealthiest individual, despite the fluctuating Nigerian currency, is a testament to his prosperous business ventures and diversified investments across multiple sectors. This resilience demonstrates the volume of his accomplishments in navigating the challenging economic landscape.

Out of the world’s top 500 billionaires for the year 2023, only five additional Africans secured a place on the list. Among them are Johann Rupert and his family from South Africa, with a combined net worth of $13.3 billion. Nicky Oppenheimer, Nassef Sawiris, Natie Kirsh, and Naguib Sawiris also join the exclusive group, possessing individual fortunes of $9.0 billion, $7.47 billion, $7.37 billion, and $5.93 billion, respectively.
