The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) will host the first-ever Telecoms Industry Compliance Management Forum (CMF), a landmark event designed to strengthen compliance and governance within Nigeria’s digital economy.
Under the theme “Securing the Future: Navigating Compliance and Governance for Improved Quality of Service and Experience,”the forum has been endorsed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). It aims to bring together key stakeholders, regulators, and policy institutions to embed compliance as a core value for sustainable business growth.
Scheduled for Tuesday, 25th November 2025 in Lagos, the event will feature high-level addresses from leading government officials. The Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, will set the tone with a welcome address on “Compliance, Governance, and Quality of Experience: Building Trust and Service Excellence in Nigeria’s Digital Economy.”
The inaugural keynote will be delivered by Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, on the topic: “Tax Compliance and the Business of Service Quality under the 2025 Fiscal Policy Framework.”
The forum will also host a panel of key agency leaders, including:
Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS)
Dr. Olatunji Bello, CEO/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC)
Dr. Vincent Olatunji, National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC)
Hajia Hadiza Bala Usman, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination
In his remarks, ALTON Chairman, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, emphasized that the forum represents an industry-first effort to make compliance a shared responsibility. He stated that the event underscores the sector’s support for the Federal Government’s fiscal reform agenda and its alignment with the President’s economic reforms.
Adebayo commended the government’s new tax policy direction, noting that it effectively addresses the historical burden of multiple taxation, where the industry once faced over 50 different taxes and levies. He described the reforms as a “bold and welcome intervention” that simplifies compliance, promotes equity, and creates a more predictable operating environment.
The CMF is positioned as a critical platform for dialogue between operators and government agencies, aiming to strengthen trust, accountability, and ultimately, drive improved service quality for Nigerian telecom consumers.
