In a recent meeting with the state government, Mr. Chukwemeka Fred-Agbata, Director General of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Agency, unveiled the state’s comprehensive policies encapsulated in the document “Everything Technology and Technology Everywhere.” The initiatives aim to harness ICT for the benefit of Anambra and the broader ICT region.

One notable policy highlighted is the resuscitation of public Wi-Fi deployment, labeled “Solution Wi-Fi,” with a pilot phase already active at Aroma Junction, Book Foundation, and Unizik Gate in Ifite Awka. The state envisions extending this initiative to various public spaces, marking a significant stride toward achieving the People’s Manifesto.

Anambra’s commitment to addressing challenges in the Internet Services Providers (ISPs) sector is also evident. The state collaborates with the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN) and ISPs to establish an Internet Exchange Point. This collaboration aims to improve interconnectivity, reduce internet access costs, and deepen penetration, offering possibilities that excite local ISPs.
