The Association of Licensed Telecommunication Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has announced that it will follow the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) direction to prohibit outgoing calls on subscriber lines that do not meet the NIN-SIM connection Policy requirement.
All Subscriber Identification Modules (SIMs) must be linked to a National Identification Number (NIN) in order to comply with policy (NIN).
ALTON Chairman Gbenga Adeboye issued a statement urging telecommunication users who have not yet gotten and/or linked a NIN to their SIM cards to do so at one of the designated centers.
The NCC has issued formal orders to ALTON members to prohibit outgoing calls on subscriber lines that do not comply with the NIN-SIM linkage, according to the statement.
The instruction came after the Federal Government gave many deadline extensions to subscribers to allow them to finish the NIN-SIM linkage.
ALTON members are also dedicated to assisting the Federal Government of Nigeria and preserving individuals’ rights to communicate, share information freely and responsibly, and to enjoy privacy and security in their data and digital communication, according to the ALTON statement.
