The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is spearheading efforts to develop a unified portal for all government services, aligning with the federal government’s ambitious goal of digitizing 75% of government services by 2027.
Building on past attempts at centralized e-government platforms like OneGov.net, this renewed initiative draws from global best practices to create a more efficient and transparent digital governance system.
Speaking on the project, NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa highlighted the agency’s extensive research into successful digital service models in the UK and Kenya, emphasizing the importance of customizing these frameworks to fit Nigeria’s unique needs. He also underscored the necessity of legal and regulatory frameworks to ensure seamless integration, particularly through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and dedicated service portals.

Inuwa further revealed ongoing collaborations with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to align Nigeria’s e-government strategy with global standards. The overarching goal is to enhance efficiency, reduce corruption, and improve public service accessibility, fostering a more transparent and citizen-centric government.
Meanwhile, during discussions with a delegation from the Ukrainian Embassy, led by Ambassador Ivan Kholostenko, potential collaborations were explored. Ukraine’s “Diia” app, a comprehensive digital platform integrating state registers, databases, and government services, was cited as a successful model. Kholostenko expressed Ukraine’s readiness to support Nigeria’s digital transformation efforts, offering insights into reducing bureaucracy, processing delays, and corruption risks through technology-driven governance solutions.
As Nigeria accelerates its e-government transformation, the planned one-stop digital portal is expected to revolutionize how citizens interact with government services, paving the way for a more efficient and transparent public sector.
