The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the launch of E-tags for accessing the 24 federal airports nationwide. Sales of these E-tags start today, May 17. This new policy comes following a directive from the Federal Executive Council (FEC), which approved 21 policies and projects aimed at enhancing the economy, attracting investments, and simplifying business operations in Nigeria.
Among these newly approved measures, the FEC has mandated that all users of federal airports must pay tolls at the gates to gain entry, with no exceptions. This policy, which applies to everyone, including high-ranking officials like the President and Vice President, is designed to ensure equitable contributions towards the upkeep of airport facilities.
FAAN’s announcement on their X (formerly Twitter) account detailed how motorists could obtain these E-tags. Those without E-tags can opt to pay cash at the access gates, though failure to do so will result in denied entry.
At Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport, E-tags are available at the Office of the Head of Department of Commercial Operations, Terminal 1, 5th floor. Inquiries can be made via 08033713796 or 08023546030.

For Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, E-tags can be collected at the HOD Commercial Office at the General Aviation Terminal. Contact numbers for this office are 08034633527 and 08137561615.
This initiative comes amidst economic strains following the removal of subsidies and the naira’s devaluation. The Nigeria Labour Congress has already requested a minimum wage increase in light of these challenges.
FAAN underscores that this measure is part of a broader effort to improve airport infrastructure and services, ultimately contributing to national economic growth and development.
