In a devastating incident on Friday night, a helicopter crash near the border between Nevada and California claimed the lives of Access Holdings CEO Herbert Wigwe and five other individuals. The chopper, en route to Las Vegas, tragically went down near Nipton, on the outskirts of the Mojave Desert.
Reports indicate that the Eurocopter EC 130, carrying six passengers, crashed in San Bernardino County, with authorities unable to locate any survivors. The incident marks California’s second fatal helicopter crash in less than a week, adding to the somber air surrounding aviation safety in the region.
Officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated that they were alerted to the downed aircraft near Baker shortly after 10 pm on Friday. Despite efforts, no survivors have been found, intensifying the sorrow surrounding the incident.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the crash near Nipton, situated east of the 15 Freeway near Halloran Springs. The helicopter involved in the tragedy is registered to Burbank-based tour company Orbic Air, as per NBC reports.
