The adverse effect of global warming and unpredictable climate change is wrecking havoc on humanity across the world.
The Obafemi Awolowo University (SEO), Ile-Ife, Osun State had a share of this on Thursday May 16th, 2024 when a torrential rainfall accompanied with a whirlwind brought down
the ceiling of the Amphitheatre thereby injuring some of the students.
Some students of the University were said to be having a lecture, SER to be precise, at the Amphitheatre of the Oduduwa Hall, when the unfortunate incident occurred.
In a swift response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire led other principal officers to the Medical and Health Centre of the University, to ensure that the injured students were given adequate medical attention.
In a press release obtained by *DigiVation Network* and issued by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, the Vice-Chancellor also accompanied two other students, whose cases demanded more medical attention to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), where the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Professor John Okeniyi, was also on ground to physically supervise the proceedings.
In the meantime, the Vice-Chancellor has, appealed for calm and urged students and staff to go about their academic and administrative activities without any form of untoward action.
The statement added that the Management of the University, has temporarily sealed off the amphitheatre, the venue of the unfortunate incident, until further notice.
