President Tinubu Names Gbajabiamila Chief of Staff

The current Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has been chosen by President Bola Tinubu to serve as his Chief of Staff. Following extensive meetings and consultations, the president appointed Gbajabiamila for the position and this decision reportedly results in his removal from the upcoming 10th National Assembly.

Gbajabiamila, who successfully attained a sixth term as the Surulere Federal Constituency representative in Lagos State, conveyed this information via his Chief of Staff, Olanrewaju Smart Wasiu, on his official Facebook page on Thursday morning. As per the statement, the President made the choice to appoint Gbajabiamila after conducting a comprehensive assessment of several potential candidates from his supporters.

This decision marks a notable shift for Gbajabiamila, who is still awaiting his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). By choosing to join the executive branch of government, he will relinquish his opportunity to serve a sixth term in the House of Representatives.

This progress would also present an additional chance for other party members who had temporarily set aside their ambition to represent Surulere constituency 1 at the House of Representatives. Gbajabiamila was chosen by the president following a concluding meeting with stakeholders that concluded on Thursday morning at the Villa in Abuja.
