Phase3 Telecom and Laser Light Africa Unveil “Fiber Meets AI” to Revolutionize Connectivity from Lagos to Accra

Phase3 Telecom, West Africa’s leading independent fibre optic infrastructure provider, in collaboration with Laser Light Africa, has launched “Fiber Meets AI” an advanced Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) initiative set to redefine digital connectivity along the Lagos Accra corridor.

The new initiative capitalizes on Phase3’s extensive 600km fibre network between Lagos, Nigeria, and Accra, Ghana — a critical yet underserved digital route. By embedding micro data centres along secured substations on its aerial infrastructure, Phase3 aims to deliver low-latency computing and data storage directly at the network edge.

“This is about future-proofing the region for AI and immersive digital applications,” said Craig Lowe, Chief Growth Officer at Phase3 Telecom. “Our infrastructure is the foundation of this transformation, empowering people, enterprises, and governments across West Africa.”

With service rollout targeted for the first half of 2026, “Fiber Meets AI” offers hyperscalers, communications service providers, and enterprises the ability to extend their cloud environments quickly and securely using their preferred software stacks. It promises significantly lower latency and higher performance for AI, gaming, and real-time analytics applications.

The initiative also strengthens Phase3’s digital footprint across ECOWAS, furthering its mission to close Africa’s digital divide. Meanwhile, Laser Light Africa will augment the terrestrial infrastructure with a forthcoming all-optical satellite constellation, providing added redundancy and network reliability.

Derek Friend, President of Laser Light Africa’s SADC Region, praised the partnership: “Phase3’s unmatched experience deploying fibre over high-voltage transmission lines makes them a natural partner for this bold leap forward.”

With current clients spanning sectors such as finance, media, cloud computing, and government, Phase3 continues to push the boundaries of digital infrastructure across the continent.
