Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on June 4, 2025, unveiled a Digital Innovation and Industrial Park (DIIP)

In a major boost to Nigeria’s digital transformation drive, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on June 4, 2025, unveiled a Digital Innovation and Industrial Park (DIIP) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, positioning the state as a rising hub for tech development and innovation in West Africa.

The high-profile event attracted leading government figures and industry stakeholders, including Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani; Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun; Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; NCC Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida; heads of the National Assembly ICT Committees; and HRM Oba Micheal Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake of Egbaland.

Minister Tijani described the new tech facility as a transformational platform that will connect academia with industry, promote skills development, and empower young Nigerians with the digital competencies required for the future economy.

“This park is more than infrastructure—it’s an innovation ecosystem designed to nurture startups, attract investment, and unlock job opportunities for thousands across Nigeria,” Tijani said.

Governor Abiodun praised the NCC and the Federal Government for choosing Ogun State as the launchpad for what he called a “future-defining infrastructure,” expressing optimism that the park will fuel entrepreneurship, job creation, and economic diversification.

According to Dr. Maida, the park represents the NCC’s vision of fostering a resilient digital economy by building innovation hubs that provide high-speed connectivity, smart working spaces, and collaborative opportunities for Nigeria’s youth and tech entrepreneurs.

The facility is expected to house tech startups, innovation labs, training centers, and digital service providers—creating an enabling environment that aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to transform Nigeria into a leading digital economy.

With the Abeokuta Digital Innovation Park now operational, Ogun State is set to play a key role in shaping Africa’s digital future.
