The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has confirmed that the Federal Government’s September 14 deadline for the mandatory linkage of the National Identification Number (NIN) with Subscriber Identity Modules (SIM) remains unchanged.
In a statement released by Dr. Kayode Adegoke, NIMC’s Head of Corporate Communications, the commission assured Nigerians that its nationwide and diaspora registration centers are functioning seamlessly, ensuring smooth enrolment, verification, authentication, and data modification services ahead of the deadline.
“The commission wishes to reiterate that all its over 10,000 NIN enrolment centers across the country and in the diaspora are open for enrolment,” the statement said. Nigerians and legal residents are encouraged to visit any of the designated centers to complete their enrolment and receive their NINs.

Dr. Adegoke also reminded applicants that they could modify their NIN data via the NIMC self-service portal, with terms and conditions applying. Additionally, inquiries related to enrolment, data modification, and verification can be addressed through NIMC’s official website or helpline.
He further stressed NIMC’s commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for extortion or unethical practices, reminding the public that NIN enrolment is free. The commission urged the public to report any cases of extortion to the appropriate channels.
NIMC reaffirmed its dedication to providing world-class identity management services to Nigerians and ensuring compliance with the upcoming deadline.
