NIMC Reaffirms Security of NIN Database on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Day

The Director General and CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has reiterated the safety and protection of the National Identity Database (NIDB) as Nigeria marks Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Day. Represented by Engr. Lanre Yusuf, Director of Information Technology and Identity Database, during a press conference in Abuja, Coker-Odusote emphasized that NIMC has implemented top-tier security measures to safeguard citizens’ data.

She assured the public of the ongoing efforts to keep the National Identification Number (NIN) Database secure. She mentioned that NIMC is planning to extend its enrollment activities to remote areas to ensure that every Nigerian is registered.

To date, over 109 million NINs have been issued to Nigerians and legal residents, with children’s enrollment making up 20% of that total. Coker-Odusote pledged that NIMC would ensure timely and accurate NIN registration for all Nigerians and legal residents.

Additionally, she announced the upcoming launch of the Improved General Multi-Purpose Card (GMPC), designed to support the Federal Government’s inclusivity efforts, social safety net programs, and other initiatives aimed at benefiting citizens.
