NIMC DG Tasks FEPs on Professional Conduct Journey

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has come under scrutiny as the newly appointed Director-General, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, reveals a series of irregularities and unethical practices in the National Identity Number (NIN) enrollment and modification processes. According to Coker-Odusote, numerous infractions have been uncovered, and a significant portion of these issues can be traced back to the Front-End Partners (FEPs) associated with the Commission.

Addressing these concerns during a four-day training session in Abuja for the first batch of newly revalidated Front-End Partners, Coker-Odusote emphasized the need for FEPs to act as ambassadors for the Commission. She issued a stern warning, stating that any Front-End Partner found engaged in unwholesome practices would face consequences.

Coker-Odusote shed light on her observations since assuming office, revealing that a substantial number of reported infractions were tied to the activities of the Front-End Partners. She highlighted the need for a thorough revalidation exercise to sanitize the enrollment process and audit outstanding debts owed to the FEPs.

While clarifying that the revalidation process was not targeted at any specific group, the Director-General underscored its importance in upholding the integrity of the country’s identity database and ensuring compliance with the highest standards of data security. Coker-Odusote reassured the revalidated FEPs that payment would be forthcoming and affirmed a commitment to a corruption-free NIN enrollment system.

Representatives of the revalidated FEPs expressed their appreciation for the NIMC management’s transparent revalidation process during the training session. They also called for strengthened monitoring to prevent loopholes in the enrollment exercise, emphasizing the significance of maintaining a robust and ethical registration system.
