NDE Trains 50 Anambra Graduates on Livestock, Digital Marketing

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has begun a three-day training for 50 unemployed graduates in Anambra state on agricultural value chain for sustainable development. The NDE State Coordinator, Mrs. Chika Ufelle, launched the training in Amawbia, Awka South local government area of the state and says the training will cover agricultural intervention policies, livestock production, and digital marketing of agricultural products.

Ufelle stated that the training also covered food processing, packaging, and marketing, with the goal of increasing food production, generating employment opportunities in rural areas, and improving the livelihoods of farmers. She highlighted the agency’s partnerships with organizations such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, NIRSAL Micro Finance Bank, Bank of Agriculture, and NERFUND to secure financing for program beneficiaries.

She notes that due to the high cost involved in empowering trained individuals, it becomes challenging for the NDE to provide resettlement opportunities for every person trained under its programs. To address this, the Directorate has proactively partnered with credit granting institutions to broaden the reach of its resettlement efforts and accommodate a larger number of skilled unemployed individuals.

During an interview, Mrs. Flora Nwabunwanne, one of the trainees, expressed her appreciation to the management of NDE for providing this opportunity. She conveyed her confidence in making a significant positive contribution to society, drawing from the valuable knowledge acquired during the training.
