NCS to Continue with Elections Despite Court Injunction

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) remains determined to hold its national office elections on August 9, 2023, despite a court injunction obtained by a member of the society attempting to prevent the election.

During a press conference held in Lagos, Prof. Adesina Sodiya, the President of the Nigeria Computer Society, confirmed that the society would proceed with the election despite a court injunction. He mentioned that the election would coincide with the annual International Conference on Communications and e-Systems for Economic Stability (CeSES 2023), scheduled to take place in Bauchi, Nigeria, from Monday, 7th to 10th of August 2023. He reassured that the matter was receiving attention and the election would proceed smoothly.

Mr. Rogba Adeoye, a member of NCS, filed an Ex Parte order on July 17, 2023, at the Federal High Court in Lagos, seeking an interlocutory injunction. The injunction aims to restrain the Nigeria Computer Society, Prof. Adesina Sodiya, Mr. Segun Adekunle, Olufemi Williams, or anyone claiming authority through them from conducting the national Executive Council Election scheduled for August 9, 2023, until the determination of the originating summons.

The case with suit No: FHC/L/CS/1268/2023 has been adjourned to November 22, 2023, for report or service. As a result, key members of the society, including the Immediate Past President of NCS, Professor Sola Aderounmu, and the Former President of NCS Lagos Chapter, Mr. Rogba Adeoye, have been suspended.
