The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced a potential disruption in calling services between Globacom (Glo) and MTN networks due to unsettled interconnect charges.
According to a public notice released by the NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Muoka, Globacom may face restrictions in making calls to MTN lines soon if the outstanding charges remain unpaid.
The NCC stated that after reviewing MTN’s application and considering the circumstances, it found insufficient justification for Globacom’s non-payment of the interconnect charges. Consequently, partial approval for disconnection of Globacom from MTN has been granted.
Effective 10 days from the notice date, Glo subscribers might not be able to initiate calls to MTN numbers. However, they will continue to receive calls from the MTN network. In-bound calls to the Globacom network will remain unaffected.
