NCC introduces Unified USSD Codes Compatible For All Mobile Networks

Telecommunications operators in Nigeria have embraced the approval by the Nigerian Communications Commission for a unified Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) across all mobile networks in the country. This significant step was initiated on May 18, 2023.

The unified USSD system will be the exclusive method for recharging and checking mobile network services, offering a consolidated approach. The commission notified all relevant parties in March 2023 to transition and fully integrate the Unified USSD codes by May 17, 2023. This requirement arises from the upcoming launch of harmonized shortcodes (HSC) for all mobile networks, which will serve as the sole means to recharge or check balance across all networks.

Here is a compilation of the Unified USSD codes for all mobile networks operating in Nigeria:
Call Centre: 300

Borrow Services: *303#

Stop Service: *305#

Check Balance: *310#

Credit Recharge: *311#

Data Plan: *312#

Data plan balance: *323#

Share Services: *321#

However, it is crucial to note that certain codes and their functions will remain unchanged by the commission. These codes include DND: 2442, Porting services: 3232, and NIN Verification and NIN-SIM Linkage: *996#.
