The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has begun the deployment of a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system as part of its vision and strategy to promote promptness, effectiveness, and efficiency in the processing of emergency call services through the Emergency Communication Centres (ECC).
This increase in emergency response agency capacity comes shortly after the Commission activated the Taraba State ECC, bringing the total number of ECCs to 25.
The Taraba ECC joins the 23 ECCs that are currently active in 23 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The FCT, Adamawa, Imo, Enugu, Ondo, Oyo, Kwara, Plateau, Ogun, Kano, Katsina, Ekiti, Cross River, and Edo have ECCs. Kaduna, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Benue, Kogi, Bauchi, Osun, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Gombe states are among the rest.
The NCC began deploying CAD for response agencies to modernize the centers. The CAD system has been installed in the command centers of six response agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), state Emergency Management Agencies (SEMA), and ambulance and fire services in seven states.
Ogun, Cross River, Enugu, Kwara, Kano, Adamawa, and the FCT are the states that have benefited from the deployment.
