NCC Chief Aminu Maida Lauds Katsina Governor Radda’s Visionary Telecom Policies

The Chief Executive of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Aminu Maida, applauds Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for his progressive stance on waiving Right of Way (RoW) charges, acknowledging its crucial role in advancing the National Broadband Plan.

In a strategic meeting at the NCC headquarters, Maida hailed Governor Radda as the first in the current dispensation to take the bold step of eliminating RoW charges. This decision is seen as a catalyst in achieving the National Broadband Plan’s ambitious target of 70 percent broadband penetration by 2025.

Governor Radda showcased Katsina State’s innovative policies during the meeting, highlighting the state’s success in swiftly surveying 3,882 educational institutions and achieving 100% result uploads through pervasive connectivity, even in remote areas.

Expressing support for the National Broadband Alliance project initiated by the Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, Governor Radda emphasized Katsina State’s commitment to collaborative efforts. The Alliance aims to unite stakeholders for widespread internet adoption in critical public institutions nationwide.

Maida assured Governor Radda of the NCC’s collaboration and support, aligning with the shared vision for a digitally progressive Katsina State. This strategic partnership aims to leverage digital connectivity to drive socio-economic development in the region.

Governor Radda underscored the telecommunications sector’s significance in advancing the federal government’s digital economy agenda. He sought the NCC’s support in enhancing telecommunications and internet infrastructure across various sectors in Katsina State, ensuring streamlined government operations.

The governor expressed unwavering commitment to collaborating with the NCC and other industry stakeholders, emphasizing the joint effort to extend services to even the most remote towns and communities in Katsina State.
