The Michael Imoudu National Institute of Labour Studies (MINILS) has honored Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), with the Fellowship of the Nigeria Institute of Labour (NIL) under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.
This recognition, presented during the Institute’s 40th Anniversary/Founders Day celebration in Abuja, acknowledges Danbatta’s outstanding contributions to the Commission and the national workforce. Additionally, Usman Malah, the Director of Human Capital and Administration at NCC, who has played a pivotal role in workforce effectiveness at the Commission, was also conferred with a fellowship.
Danbatta, represented by Malah, emphasized the importance of supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being of Nigerian workers by providing them with affordable access to telecom services. He highlighted the crucial role of a digitally skilled and informed workforce in driving national productivity and development.
Danbatta pledged the Commission’s commitment to delivering affordable and widespread telecom services to improve the daily activities of Nigerian workers. He expressed gratitude for the recognition and assured continued support for staff development, education, capacity-building activities, and the expansion of robust broadband infrastructure to stimulate job creation and enhance national productivity.
MINILS Director-General, Isa Aremu, commended the Commission for promoting telecommunications services to enhance productivity and efficiency across various sectors of the economy. He acknowledged Danbatta’s role in advancing the nation’s digital landscape, bridging the digital divide, and creating employment opportunities in the telecommunications sector.
The anniversary celebration included the conferment of the NIL Fellowship on other Chief Executives and Heads of Human Resources divisions from government agencies, highlighting the importance of fair labor practices, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among government bodies.
In addition to receiving the Fellowship of NIL from MINILS, Danbatta holds fellowships from various esteemed organizations, further underscoring his dedication to advancing technology and engineering in Nigeria.
