Los Angeles Wildfires Destroy Homes, Landmarks, and Celebrities’ Properties

The devastating wildfires raging across Los Angeles County have destroyed thousands of homes and iconic landmarks, including properties belonging to several celebrities. The fires, which started on January 13, 2025, have claimed at least 12,000 structures, particularly in upscale areas like Pacific Palisades, where the median home price is $3.3 million.

Notable figures such as actors Eugene Levy, Mel Gibson, and Patrick Dempsey have lost their homes, with Levy, the honorary mayor of Pacific Palisades, describing his house as “reduced to ashes.” Other victims include Barbara Corcoran, Jeff Bridges, Sandra Lee, and Jhené Aiko, who shared their grief on social media. Aiko said, “We lost everything.”

Historic landmarks have also been severely damaged, including Palisades Charter High School, Will Rogers State Historic Park, and the Topanga Ranch Motel. The Getty Villa and Getty Center were threatened but largely spared from major damage.

With over 150,000 people evacuated and 24 fatalities reported, the fires continue to wreak havoc, with strong winds complicating firefighting efforts. As the region recovers, federal support has been approved, with FEMA pledging full assistance. Despite the destruction, a sense of community and resilience is emerging as survivors, including celebrities, rally to rebuild.
