LCCI Calls On Industries to Prepare for Technological Disruptions

The Chairman of the Trade Promotion Board at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCCI), Leye Kupoluyi, cautioned industrial entities about the impending disruptions caused by advancing technology at a media launch for this year’s Information Communication Technology and Telecommunications Expo. He emphasized the need for businesses to adapt to the changing landscape of operations worldwide.

The ninth edition of the LCCI ICTEL EXPO is scheduled to take place on July 25-26, 2023, at the Landmark Event Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. This year’s event will revolve around the theme “Tech Disrupt: Transforming Industries with Innovation.”

During the launch, Kupoluyi emphasized the importance of providing Nigerian startups with a platform to showcase their technological advancements and foster innovation. He highlighted that this opportunity would enable startups to achieve desirable turnover, increase profitability, expand market share, and enhance customer loyalty, allowing them to keep pace with global trends and remain competitive.

He also mentioned the lasting impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on previously established models, highlighting that these disruptions are here to stay. He explained that technological disruption involves a significant transformation of business models, often replacing human involvement and altering existing paradigms due to advancements in technology.

Kupoluyi emphasized how personal computers replaced mainframe computers and digital cameras replaced film cameras. He noted that the trend continues with the replacement of human roles by robots, leaving business owners struggling to keep up with rapidly evolving technologies.

He highlighted that the ICTEL 2023 event will focus on live demonstrations, showcasing the significant forces that are disrupting industries worldwide, creating fresh economic prospects, and driving innovation
