LASPOTECH officially converted to Lagos State University of Technology

The name of Lagos State Polytechnic has changed to Lagos State University of Technology, Ikorodu.

The National Universities Commission presented Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu with a certificate of honor today in Abuja.

Dr. Oluremi Olaleye, Rector of LASPOTECH, thanked the governor for the renovation.

“Lagosians are thrilled because the gesture would put Lagos on the world map of educational growth,” he added, noting that the governor has put in a lot of resources over the years. Mr. Governor, as well as Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, Special Adviser on Education, are thanked by the polytechnic’s employees and students for completing this project. Wahab didn’t do it formally; instead, he did it with zeal, as if his life relied on it. We sincerely appreciate him, and we are confident that his name has been inscribed in gold. They will be remembered in history for the amazing progress that they have brought to the state.”

The Rector also commended Speaker Mudashiru Obasa of the House of Assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Owolabi Ajayi, for their foresight and tenacity in achieving the bill’s passage.

Governor Sanwo-Olu had signed the bills converting LASPOTECH to Lagos State University of Science and Technology and merging Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOD) and Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCOPED) to form Lagos State University of Education, which had been passed by the House of Assembly.
