Galaxy Backbone MD Outlines Bold Vision for Nigeria’s Digital Future at Lagos Future Conference

Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju, managing director/chief executive officer of Galaxy Backbone, managing director/CEO of Galaxy Backbone, Nigeria’s premier digital infrastructure and services provider, delivered a compelling address at the Lagos Future Conference on Saturday, articulating a bold roadmap for national digital transformation powered by infrastructure, innovation, and inclusion.

Speaking on the theme “Future-Forward: Harnessing the Power of Youth, Innovation and Technology for National Economic Growth,” the MD emphasized the critical role of digital infrastructure and strategic collaboration in shaping Nigeria’s future economy.

Represented by Victor Imonieroh, business relationship manager, Galaxy Backbone, he said:

“In just the past 18 months, we have expanded our high-speed fibre optic network to cover over 5,000 kilometres, reaching nearly 30 states, including Lagos, Ibadan, and Ilorin,” he announced. “This is part of our commitment under the National Information and Communication Technology Infrastructure Backbone (NICTIB) project to make Nigeria’s digital infrastructure not only solid but future-ready.”

He also highlighted the launch of Galaxy Backbone’s 24/7 Service Desk operations to support public and private sector clients, calling it “a demonstration of our commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.”

In a major push toward inclusive digital access, the MD revealed that Galaxy Backbone is partnering with NIGCOMSAT to bring connectivity to all 774 local government areas in Nigeria. “Six communities are already online,” he said, marking the beginning of an initiative to bridge the digital divide and empower rural economies.

Additionally, the company is delivering connectivity services to university hostels, with two installations already completed and more expected before year’s end.

Galaxy Backbone’s collaborative approach includes partnerships with states such as Benue, Zamfara, and Bauchi, and strategic alliances with global tech leaders. “These partnerships amplify our capacity to accelerate broadband penetration and deliver technology solutions that make a real difference,” the MD noted.

Further demonstrating its commitment to quality, Galaxy Backbone has achieved multiple international certifications including Uptime Tier III & IV, PCI-DSS, ISO 20000, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, and ISO 22301.

The MD also underscored the company’s investment in people, announcing that over 500 civil servants have been trained on the Government Email System (GOVMAIL), with more than 15,000 official email boxes deployed across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

“Our vision is clear,” he concluded. “A Nigeria where the youth are empowered by innovation, where technology is the bedrock of inclusive economic development, and where collaboration drives progress.”

The Lagos Future Conference continues to be a vital platform for leaders, innovators, and policymakers shaping Africa’s digital future. Galaxy Backbone’s presence and plans underscore the country’s commitment to leveraging digital infrastructure for inclusive national growth.
