Galaxy Backbone Embraces Konn3ct; A Completely Nigerian Virtual Conferencing Platform

As a feature of Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB’S) obligation to help local contents and innovations, the organization has banded together with Newwaves Ecosystem, an inventive Digital Company, to adopt online conference platform Konn3ct in the public sector space in accordance with the local content drive of president Buhari’s administration.

Konn3ct platform is entirely Nigerian to provide video conference platform that offers video, voice, content sharing, and chatting, versatile and work areas.

The platform was created by Newwaves Ecosystems Limited that is seeking to tap into the multi-billion-dollar worldwide internet meeting market.
Talking during the conventional agreement signing, Prof. Muhammad Abubakar, Director General of the Galaxy Backbone (GBB) represented by Baffajo Beita, Head Of Enterprise Business Group, said, Galaxy Backbone is glad to adopt native solutions particularly, in the space of supporting business of government.

Konn3ct platform will give the best incentive for cash as far as simplicity of interchanges, improved security, usability and Naira transaction which will assist with saving government foreign exchange.

Williams Olufemi, head enabling official/chief, Newwaves Ecosystem was thankful to the Management of Galaxy Back Bone for their faith in local contents that is superior to numerous other contending products in the market. As indicated by him, “I’m certain that Nigerians and the Federal Government will be glad for what we have had the option to create here. “We are glad to declare that the Konn3ct stage had been registered by NITDA.

“Apart from the retail online meetings and Web conferencing features, we have integrated a Learning Management system to Konn3ct to make it suited for the educational sectors in Nigeria”. Olufemi said he accepts government won’t offer empty talk to National Policy for the Promotion of Indigenous Content but rather use the product.

He enjoined government authority and its agencies to embrace locally created platforms for their gatherings, meetings, online courses, live-classroom, partner occasions, and distant film among others, when we have an indigenous platform that is providing the same service as their foreign counterpart.

He then further said, “We are wondering why Federal executive Council meetings be held on Webex; why should NITDA be using MS Teams or why should the VP’s office be using Zoom and why should the Federal and State legislature be holding their meetings on foreign platforms.
“Government needs to not just preach local content but be seen to consume the content.

“You will notice how vibrant and profitable the entertainment industry is now because Nigerians develop taste and preference for the local content. “Konn3ct could just be a vehicle for radical change and transformation of the local ICT sector.
He concluded by saying, “don’t forget that Nigerian banks collectively spend over 1Trillion Naira on core banking software every year. Imagine if local players are encouraged”.
