The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) in Enugu established a six-member technical committee responsible for overseeing and supervising the implementation of a 10-kilometer broadband installation by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) within the university.
During the inauguration of the committee in Agbani, Enugu State, Prof. Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, urged the members to allow the Contractor sufficient access to the project site and designate a suitable area for the control room and equipment access points. The Committee was also tasked with providing security and ancillary support services, as well as any additional assistance necessary for the successful execution of the project.
The Vice Chancellor acknowledged that the project, scheduled to be completed within four months, would extend internet services to both the University Community and beyond. This would be made possible by the robust and high-capacity mast that will be installed. Additionally, the Vice Chancellor commended the committee members and expressed belief in their ability to successfully fulfill their responsibilities.
The Chairman of the Committee and also the Director of ICT Centre at ESUT, Prof. Babatunde Olofin, expressed his gratitude to the University Management for deeming them qualified to undertake the task. He made a commitment to fulfill the objectives outlined in the terms of reference and ensure the project is completed within an unprecedented timeframe.
