Ebok Ekwe Ibas has been appointed as the new Administrator of Rivers State. Born in Nko, Cross River State, he enlisted in the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1979 as part of the 26 Regular Course and was commissioned as a Sub-Lieutenant in 1983.
Ibas attended Hope Waddell Training Institute, Calabar, and later studied at the School of Basic Studies, Ogoja, before joining the military. He has undergone extensive training in Nigeria, India, the United States, and Pakistan, specializing in amphibious and underwater warfare.
A former Chief of Naval Staff, Ibas is an alumnus of the National Defence College, Islamabad, and holds a Master’s Degree in Defence and Strategic Studies from Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan.
His appointment is expected to bring his vast military experience to governance, focusing on security and administrative efficiency in Rivers State.
