The Computer Professionals (Registration Council of Nigeria) (CPN) has announced Dr. Essien Eyo as its newly elected President and Chairman of Council.
Dr. Eyo, a consummate Computer Scientist and the immediate past Vice-President of the council, was elected unopposed during the council’s online election held on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
According to the official results released by the Chairman of the 2025 CPN Electoral Committee, Dr. Mohammed Musa Abubakar, Dr. Eyo received 98 votes, representing 100% of the total votes cast for the office of President/Chairman of Council.
In a similarly uncontested election, Dr. Ali Usman Abdullahi was elected as the new Vice-President/Vice-Chairman of Council, also securing 98 votes.
The election solidifies the leadership transition within the apex body responsible for the regulation, control, and supervision of the computing profession in Nigeria. Dr. Eyo’s election is expected to usher in a new phase of strategic development for the organization, building upon his extensive experience as the former second-in-command.
The CPN oversees the standards of practice and ethics for all computing professionals in Nigeria and is tasked with advancing the profession in line with global best practices.
